IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
AND FEDERATION OF THE EMPIRE. By Cable—Press Association—Copvright. London, March 21. Lord Esher, in a' paper at the Royal United Service Institution on the coordination of the naval and military services,'declared that the Imperial Defence Committee was the most effective method yet devised. He hoped to see the dominions sending representatives, and thus taking a long step towards the federation of the Empire. The ties with the overseas dominions were mainly sentimental, and, although there had been recent indications that the dominions were willing to assist in the defence of the Empire, if there was any attempt to co-.ordmate their strategic plans it was not impossible that it would prove disastrous.
