The magistrate said the sentence would have been severer but that accused was suffering from illness. CARD SHARPERS. Berlin, March 20. Count Wolff Metternich was acquitted on a charge of card-sharping, but found guilty of defrauding a waiter and sentenced to a week's imprisonment. Buich was sentenced to thirty months' imprisonment for card-sharping. A SCOTTISH DIVORCE. London, March 20. The Edinburgh Court of Session granted a divorce against Stewart Gray, one of the "hunger marchers" for adultery. ALLEGED GERMAN SPIES. London, March 20. Four alleged German spies have been arrested in the .precinct* of St. Helen's fort, the Eastern defence of the Isle of Wight. FRENCH SUSPECTS EXTRADITED. London, March 20. "Monte Carlo" Wells and the woman, Peris have been ordered to be extradited on a charge of fraud. BANK OF AUSTRALASIA. London, March 20. The balance-sheet of the Bank of Australasia shows that the deposits are £17,414,474, cash andi securities £B,979,677, bills £15,892,890. INCREASED COST OF BUILDING. Sydney, March 21. Giving evidence before the Rents Commission the Acting T Director of Public Works said that a house costing £370 to build seven years ago would now cost £SOO.
