WEST OP ENGLAND TRA,DE. A trade journal announces that eight' new steamers are to be built this year for the Argentine-Liverpool meat-carry-ing trade, having a combined refrigerating capacity for 1,079,000 carcases of •mutton. These vessels are to v be ready j for delivery this year. .Seen the other J day with reference to the bearing, if J any, of the above on New Zealand's trade with West of England ports, a southern shipping agent, whose vessels ply regularly in the trade mentioned, stated that, the information contained in the paragraph was of such a vague description that its import could not be gauged at thia distance. It could mean nothing. and it could mean a great deal. The new .boats' might be intended to replace old and out-of-date vessels, or they might be extra ships. In. the latter case it would appear as if a busy time were anticipated. The paragraph referred to mutton, whilst New Zealand's trade with the West of England was almost exclusively in lamb. On the whole, however, the paragraph was much too vague to theorise on. 1-at-s ■ ,*-" —- OVERSEA VESSELS. STEAMERS TO ARRIVE AT WEL- ' UNGTQN. From London—
