Owing to the British Motor-Cab Company refusing an allowance of sixpence per hour to drivers while waiting, 1100 have struck. GERMAN STRIKE SPREADING. • Received March 20, 12.45 a.m. Berlin, March 19. The strike has stagnated the Ruhr district, and is spreading to Saxony and Hanover. THE SEAMEN'S FEDERATION. Received March 20, 12.45 a.m. Sydney, March 19. The executive council of the Seamen's Federation of Australasia, sitting at Sydney, considered the question of the crews being compelled to work cargo which other labour had refused to handle owing to labour troubles. They resolved to abide by the law providing that the crew must work such cargo until such time as they can secure an alteration in the law. THE AFTERNOON SHIFT. Received March 20, 12.45 a.m. Sydney, March 19. A conference of coal owners and miners regarding the abolition of the afternoon shift is proceeding.
