Mrs, H. Scotland, widow of the late Hon. H. Scotland, M.L.C., has planned to spend the spring months in her native eounty (Cornwall), write® a London correspondent. She will remain in thd United Kingdom until the early stammer, when she will cross to the Unttdd States, with the idea' of staying there for * * month before joining at Vancouver T the New Zealand-bound steamer in July or August.
A* wedding was quietly celebrated at Knox Church, Masterton, on Friday afternoon, when Captain G. Ansoli' Thompson, late of the P. and O. serviSe, but now harbormaster At Waitara,. was married to Miss Helen Annand, of Elgin, Scotland. The bride was given away by Mr. D. J. Cameron.' The church was prettily decorated, and a reception was afterwards held at the manse. The Rev. A. T. Thompson was the officiating clergyman. _The engagement is announced of Sir Thomas S. Tancred, Baronet of Bo>roughbridge,, Yorkshire, late Major Central India Horse, son of the late Shr Thomas Tancred, Baronet, and nephew of Harry G. Tancred, of Westown (Neyr Plymouth) and Miss Margery, Lawsoo, elder daughter of Mr. and the Hon. Mrs. Lawson, of Aldbrough Manor, "Bo#roughbridg«, and granddaughter of' Viscount Mount Garret. Curiously enough, the Lawsons bought the property Aidborough Manor from the Tancred 1 forbears, about the year 110Q, and Borroughbridge belongs to them,, being part of the Manor, and through the bride's marriage will be the means of the return of the Tanereds to their old home..
