" Onehunga, Saturday,—Arrived, at 7.28 a.m., Corinna, from New Plymouth; at 9 a.m., Rarawa, from New Plymouth. - - »•- ; •. 'THE'PORT,

The necessity for further berthage accommodation at the whaTf will be made apparent to-day, when th 6 Kafori, Corinna, "Rarawa attd' Rosamond will be" in port. Owing to the progress of the wham widening operations the Karbri ..will be compelled to go into the stream to allow the Corinna tt> load butter. When, the projected lengthening is completed/the wharf yhould be able/to berth vessels like the Cofirvna and RaTawa on the western side, while on the, other a steamer like the-Karori and three ■smaller boats: Could be comfortably berthed. The iWorking of so many vessels at onf tipie, however, would be rather awkward at the present time, owing to the inadequate iuppl.v of labor, but with a guarantee of reasonably constant work 4 lhis difficulty would doubtless be overcome." With the progress of the town will come increased population, and in this increase the laboring class will 'be well represented. Dearth of labor is sorely felt by the shipping interests, but when e'ven' two boats' a day could be reckoned on,, with the occasional colliers, men wiH quickly come upon the scene.

THE' KARORI. The Karori, which arrived from Newcastle -on- Friday -night, was granted pratique on Saturday' an'd commenced discharging. She is not expected to complete until Tuesday evening, owing to her having to give up her berth this morning to the Corinna. The vessel has 2000 tons aboard, of 1 which 1000 tons are for this port.
