TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. 1 MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. j On Tuesday, 12th inst., I held my usual 5 four-weekly sale of above produce, the catalogue comprising 87 bales and 347 sacks wool, 3172 sheepskins, 20 casks j and 62 tins tallow, 989 tides, 904 calfi skins and the usual assortment of hair, tails, etc. ( Wool—Mostly straggler and late shorn lots came forward, the wool generally ; being dingy and very coarse. Prices, in sympathy with those ruling in other 1 centres, were y 2 d lower as compared with late values. , Sheepskins —In sympathy with wool, J these declined under excellent comI petition. Tallow advanced £1 5s per ton. ) Hides—These met with very keen ana : spirited competition, prices showing a substantial rise all round. Owing to my next sale clashing with the Easter holidays, and buyers thereby being unable to attend, and also to the fact that the Railway Department will not carry goods on the Friday and Monday at Easter, I have decided to delete my, April 9 sale. 4 My next sale will therefore be held on May 7. Clients are kindly requested not to hold back con- , signments they may have, but to forward them on at any time, when they 1 will receive every attention and care. Congestion at the time of sale will thus, to a certain extent, be avoided.
