TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES. MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 12th inst., I held my usual four-weekly sale of above produce, the catalogue comprising 87 bales and 347 sacks wool, 3172 sheepskins, 20 casks and 62 tins tallow, 989 hides, 904 calfskins and the usual assortment of hair, tails, etc. Wool—Mostly straggler and late shorn lots came forward, the wool generally being dingy and very coarse. Prices, in sympathy with those ruling in other centres, were %d lower as compared with late values. Sheepskins—ln sympathy with wool, these declined 3 /4 d, under excellent competition. Tallow advanced £1 5s per ton. Hides—These met with very keen find spirited competition, prices showing a substantial rise all round. Heavy and medium ox advanced iy B d, lights being, at par. eHacy cow were Id, medium %d and light Id higher. One line of cow realised B%d per lb, n, record for the Dominion. /
Calfskins—Small offering, with prices at par. Owing to my next- sale clashing with the Easter holidays, and buyers thereby being unable to attend, and also to the fact that the Railway Department will not carry goods on the Friday and Monday at Easter, I haye decided to delete my, April 9 sale. # My next sale will therefore be held on May 7. Clients are kindly requested not to hold back consignments they may have, but to forward them on at any time, when they ■will receive every attention and care. Congestion at the time of sale will thus, to a certain extent, be avoided.
