A NORWEGIAN BARQUE ASHORE
CREW SAVED WITH DIFFICULTY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 10, 12.35 a.m. Jlobart, March 15. The Norwegian barque Farsund is ashore at North End Cape, Barren Island. She was found from Buenos Aires to Sydney in ballast. The captain, who has ariived at Launceston, reports that on Sunday the vessel struck a reef during thick weather. A gale was blowing and the sea was rough, and there was much difficulty in launching a boat, the crew only succeeding after two boats had been smashed. Eventually the crew of sixteen got ashore in the third boat.' Next day the crew returned to the vessel. Efforts to refloat her being unsuccessful, they left the mate in charge. During the voyage a sailor was lost overboard.
