SENTENCED TO DEATH. MBS. SEDDOX ACQUITTED. By Cable—Press Asso«iation—Copyright. London, March 14. Seddon was found guilty of the murder of Miss Barrow and sentenced to death. Mrs. Seddon was acquitted. On hearing the verdict, Seddon clasped and kissed his wife passionately. The woman, convulsively sobbing, was gently removed from the dock. Seddon, erect and defiant, delivered a quarter of an hour's unfaltering speech, protesting his innocence. Mr. Justice Buefcnill agreed with thfc verdict, and made comment that the greed for gold was the motive of the crime. The Judge almost broke down while sentencing Seddon.
SEDDON AFFIRMS inS INNOCENCE. NOTICE OF APPEAL GIVEN. Received 15, 9.55 p.m. London, March 15. Mr. Justice Bucknill, in summing up, said that the case of Mrs. Seddon was not on a parallel with her husband's, but the presumption that she was acting under her husband's coercion did not apply to the murder. After the verdict, Seddon re-argued the evidence and said that he was surrounded by a set of circumstances from which there seemed no way of extricating himself. He declared before the Great Architect of the Universe that lie was not guilty. Justice Bucknill, in passing sentence, agreed with the verdict of acquittal of the wife.
