Mr. John Hesjop has been re-appointed a member of the Taranaki District: Land Board. ' , The Rev. J. Wilkinson, who been holiday-making in the south, is back in New Plymouth again. Mr. F. J. O'Grady, of the telegraph department of the New Plymouth'- Post Office, is under notice of transfer to leave for Wellington next week. ■ ■ . A telegram from Masterton last night.: , reports the death after a protracted illness of Mrs. Serpell, 'the wife of Rev.. S. J. Serpell, Methodist minister, formerly of Auckland, Thames, New Plymouth,. Timaru and Wellington. The Victor Harriss Memorial medal of. the Associated Board of the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music has been awarded to Miss Evelyn' L. Dowling, of New Plymouth, whogained 134 marks (possible 15$) ih the advanced grade in violin playing.... The competition was open to the whole of New .Zealand, so that Miss Dowling'a is a - very meritorious achievement. ; The Methodist Conference which closed this week has appointed the Rev. Mr Kellow to the home mission station of Gonville (a suburb of Wanganui) and his place will be taken in the New Plymouth circuit by Mr Harold- JT. Peat,, who comes with an excellent reputation. The change will take effect early in' April, and Mr Kellow's many friends will unite in wishing him success in hi* new sphere of service.
