TARANAKI METROPOLITAN COMMITTEE. At a meeting of the Taranaki Metropolitan Committee on Wednesday the following licenses were granted:—Trainer, W. E. Butler (Patea); jockeys, C. Jackson and E. C. Fitzwater; apprentice, R. Trigger. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. j The Taranaki Jockey Club also met, a contract being let to Messrs. Kyngdon 'and Russell for alterations and improvelments to the training tracks. It is expected that the work will be finished early in April. It was decided to erect a sheep-proof fence on the Club's boundary on the Avenue road and John street. A further meeting of the committee will be held on Tuesday next to discuss other proposed improvements on ■ the course.
