THE STRANDED HIMITANGI
AN ATTEMPT AT SALVAGE. By T«legraph—Pres* Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The coastal steamer Gertie, equipped with salvage gear, left Lyttelton at S p.m. 'on Saturday for the Chatham Islands, where she will assist in the attempt to refloat the Himit&ngi. Captain IVfyinley went" in charge of the Gertie, Captain Sogers accompanying the vessel as mate. Mr. Walker, Lloyd's surveyor, was a passenger by the vessel. The Himitangi's owners are sanguine of getting the vessel afloat.
