Napier, Yesterday.* In the libel suit against the Hawke's Bay Tribune, Simson,the plaintiff, giving evidence in rebuttal, admitted striking Carrick,a reporter,and also Ernest Davis in a railway carriage at Auckland, but declared that he received great provocation in 'both instances. He also admitted striking a man named Carbould in a restaurant, hut denied absolutely throwing a bottle at a (barmaid in a Hastings hohotel.

The hearing of evidence concluded last night, and counsel addressed the jury this morning. Plaintiff was awarded one farthing damages.
