NEW PLYMOUTH MILE CHAM- 1 PIONSOIP. i The race for the mile swimming championship of New Plymouth eventuated at the Municipal Baths this week end. Considerable interest waß evinced, in the race, as if Pfankuch, who had won on the two previous, occasions, suceeded in repeating the performance, the cup would become his own private* property. He won the event and also the cup. The water was very cold when the three competitors, Pfankuch, .Wilson and Francis faced the starter. At the end of 14 laps the two latter retired, leaving f Pfankuch to finish the course alone. ' Time, 31min.
