HOOLIGANISM.

HARASSING CHINESE FRUITERERS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch,. Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, Mr. H. W. Bishop, S.M., dismissed the information against a fruit-hawker, charged with having obstructed the free use of Cashel street on February 24. The case rose out of a demonstration against Chinese fruiterers, who have just opened a shop. Last nigh# there was another demonstration, a large crowd congregating outside the Chinese shop and blocking the roadway 'for two or three hours. Three stones were thrown, one of which went through the shop window. Two men were arrested on charges of being drunk and disorderly and one for assaulting a policeman. Whilst putting one of the drunks and disorderlies into' a cab, a man came behind the constable and kicked him, and was promptly arrested by a policeman behind him. The crowd was fairly quiet, and when it was known that a number of constables in plain clothes were in the crowd, very little active demonstration was made.
