FIRES.
| BOARDING HOUSE DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. _At two o'clock this morning, the eighteen-roomed boarding-house in Sydney street, owned by Messrs. Hamilton, Gilmer and Maguire, and occupied by Miss Elizabeth Newman, was completely gutted by fire. The outbreak was discovered by a, boarder named 0. W. Exall, and he quickly roused the occupants, who just escaped in their night AH the hoarders lost all their belongings, Exall being slightly injured in an attempt to save some of his goods. The insurances are £2OO on the furniture in the New Zealand and £6OO on the building in the Sun. ANOTHER UNOCCUPIED HOUSE DESTROYED. Christchur9h, Last Night. What appears like an epidemic of fires in unoccupied houses has been experienced here recently, and last night an unoccupied six-roomed dwelling was severely damaged by fire. The ownership and insurance are unascertainable at present.
