Miss Keasberry, of the Pungarehu Post Office, is at present relieving at the New Plymouth office. The Pahiatua Herald says Mr. W. H. Hawkins is leaving Pahiatua shortly to settle in New Plymouth. Rifleman E. P. Sandford, of the Christchurch Press, who attended the Dominion rifle shooting meeting at Bisley, spent theweek-end'with hi& parents, SergeantMajor and Mrs. Sandford, at Vogeltown. He returns to Christchurch by the mail train this morning. Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C., who was engaged for the first day with Mr. R. Spence as his junior in the conduct 'of the defence of the local land dealing case, Robison v. Sanson, departed for Napier on Saturday morning to appear at the Supreme Court there. Mr. Spence continues alone to conduct the defence in the ease.
A telegram from Christchurch last night announced the death of the Rev. Christopher Hudson Moreland, who has been headmaster of Christ's College since 1904. The Rev. Moreland, who was taken, suddenly ill' on Friday, was a scholar of Lincoln College, Oxford, and for a time assistant-master at King Edward Royal Viril School, Norwich.
The death occurred at Hurstliouse road, near Inglewood, yesterday morning of Mr. E. Austen, an old resident of the district. Deceased had been ailing for the past two years, but was able to get about until last Tuesday, when he was seized with an attack of hemorrhage, which culminated in his death. He leaves a widow, the daughter of Mr. J. Lindsay, of the same district, to mourn her loss. The funeral takes place at Inglewood to-day.
