EXPERIMENTAL FRUIT FARMS
THEIR COMMERCIAL VALUE TO THE INDUSTRY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. The feature most deserving of special commendation at the Hawke's Bay autumn show was the splendid exhibition of apples, peaches and grapes from the Arataki Experimental Rum. The value of the work done by this station was clearly demonstrated by the interest shown by the public in this display. D. Hay (Auckland), judge of the fruit and horticultural sections, complimented Mr. Tom West, the acting manager, and said that it was the most comprehensive and instructive exhibit he ever had before him. Visitors expressed great appreciation of the Department's work The improvement of orchardists' and fruit exhibits this year, as compared with previous years, testified to the commercial values that experimental stations are to the fruit-growing industry of New Zealand.
