PRIVATE v. STATE MONOPOLY. By Cable— Press Association—Copyright. Berlin, March 5. Herr Delbruck, Minister for the Interior, speaking in the Reichstag, stated that foreign industry had grown stronger. The tariffs had not helped Germany against Protectionist countries, but Free Trade England's output exceeded anything foreigners could do. The growing private monopolies might become more dangerous than State monopolies, and Germany might have to gradually transform private into State monopolies, though the time was not ripe yet.
