' I HILLSBOROUGH. J (From Our Own Correspondent.) ; A very large and enthusiastic audience assembled at the hall on Tuesday night, the occasion being the children's annual school concert in aid of the prize fund The sum of £8 6s 6d was taken at the door. The chairman, Mr. J. R. Hill, took the opportunity of according a welcome to the new teacher, Miss Stewart. Each item was deservedly applauded, and , although the little ones had only four (weeks' training they acquitted themselves very creditably indeed. The ladies of the district provided refreshments, and when I say that, you may rely that there was an abundance. Following was the programme:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Bishop; part song, "Moonlight," school children; recitation, "A Kitten's Complaint," Myrtle Sampsonreading, "Say Uncle," Ida Hill; song, ■The Song of Bells," Rena Thomason; dialogue, "The Doll's Sad Fall," by four children; recitation, "A Hindu Fable" Grace Pitt; action song, "The Grocer''s Young Man," schoolboys; reading "Catching a Train," Daisy Sampsonsong "Just Plain Folk" (encored), Charles Hill; action recitation, "The Windmill," infants; dialogue, "Advertising for a fk'rvant," four girls; pianoforte solo, Mis- Bishop; recitation, "A Married Man, Henry Pitt; action song, "The Wonderful Fan," school girls; recitation, The Deed of Horror," Darcy Bishop- ! song, "Every Ship will find a Harbor" (encored), Edgar Barriball; - dialogue, Taking the Census," five childrenreading, "Uncle Mose counting the Eggs," Rena Thomason; round song, "The Boat : bong, school children; recitation, "The Fireman," Ivan Hamblyn; action song, Ten Little Mothers," school girls.
