FIRES.
A DRAPER'S WINDOW AFLAME, j By Telegraph—Press Association. ' , Auckland, Yesterday. The dropping of a lighted taper" in the window of John Court and Sons' big drapery shop in Queen street this morning resulted in a conflagration among highly inflammable material. The employees beat the fire out with blankets, etc., before the fire brigade arrived. Goods were destroyed to the value of £l5O. The building was uninsured. A CINEMATOGRAPH DESTROYED. Auckland, Last Night. A fire broke out in the operating room of the Queen's Pictures, shown in the Parish Hall, Devonport, to-night. Dam|age to the extent of £2OO was done. There was no panic, those present leav- | ing the building quietly. The proprietor I lost the machine and 3000 feet of films, I which were not insured. The building was only slightly damaged.
