On Friday, 23rd, at my Kaponga sale and weaner fair, I had a very successful sale, all yards being filled to overflowing with stock, mostly cows and weaners. I had a good attendance of the public and an improved demand for weaners. I quote:—Store cows £2 to £3 6s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 Bs, fat cows £4 13s to £5 Wis (according to quality), bulls £3 to £6, yearling heifers (poor) £1 16s, 18-months steers £3 4s, weaner heifers (best) £1 5s 6d to £1 lis 6d, good £1 0s 6d to £1 4s, others 16s 6d, weaner steers (best) £1 8s to £1 13s, good 18s to £1 6s, others 2s to ss, mixed weaners (best) £1 10s to £1 14s 6d, good £1 0s 6d to £1 Bs, others 4s fid to 15s.

At Pohokura for my annual sheep fair I had a good yarding of sheep and a good attendance of buyers. Bidding throughout was very good for all classes. The whole yarding (with the exception of two small pens, which were cleared after, the sale) being sold at the hammer at the. folio wing rates:—Lambs (best) 5s 6d to 6s lid, poor Is 4d to 3s Bd, 2-tooth wethers 12s 8d to 13s Hft, 4-tooth ewes 9s lOd, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 133 3d, mixed 2-tooth sheep 10s Id, f.f.m. ewes 55...9 dto 8.? 9d, old,ewes 2s to 4s fid, Lincoln rams £1 Is, Eomney rams % to 2% gns. At Rahotu on Tuesday I had a heavy entry,of all classes, all pens being well filled. I also had a good attendance of buyers. The enquiry for weaners was better than at previous sale and good business was done during the afternoon, practically every line being cleared. MATTHEWS AND BENNETTS' REPORT. Matthews & Bennett report a good yarding of sheep at their supplementary fair at Matau. There was a good attendance, and bidding was good for all classes throughout the sale, everything with the exception of three pens being sold at the hammer. We quote: Twp-to'oth wethers 12s to 12s 4d, mixed 2-tooth 12s 23, 2'tooth ewes 12s iy 2 d, good f.m. ewes 7s fid to 8s 7dj others 3s fid to 6s, ewes mixed ages 10s 8d to lis 3d, 4-tooth ewes 13s Id to 13s lid, lambs 5s fid to 6s 6d, culls 2s lid to 4s fid. At Inglewood on Wednesday the yards were filled with cattle, weaners predominating. Prices for all cattle were easier, inferior weaners being unsaleable. Prices as follows:—Store cows £3 2s fid td £3 103 ,6d, forward do. £3 15s to £4 3s, good weaners £1 4s to £1 9s 6d, inferior do. 7s 6d to 15s, bulls £2 10s to £4. .

Mr. Stanton's dairy herd were a nice lot, and sold well at prices ranging from £4 15s to £7, a few at £4 15s to £4.

N.Z.L. & M.A., Co.'s REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd. (Stratford branch) report:— On Friday, 23rd inst., we held our usual monthly sale at our Te Wera yards, when we had a full yarding of cattle and a few pens of sheep. Practically all the cattle were sold, chiefly at the hammer, only one line of 2-year-old heifers going back without changing hands. Prices were as follows:—Bullocks 100s, poor weaners 13s to 16s, good lines from 25s to 30s, 18-months heifers 45s to 555, fat cows 99s'to 101s, 18 to 20-momths steers 58s Cd to 60s; poorer lines of 'lB-months steers 40s to 465, 2-year, heifers in calf 85s, bulls 30s to 00s. store cows 60s, full-mouth ewes 5s !)■! -i 10s Id,'2-to'oth Eomney rams 2% g"' as, full-mouth Romney rams 16s to 2" full-mouth Lincoln rams 17s 6d to 31- lid. . ■/■■■

Under instructions ' from Mr. "F. W. Johnson we offered-his dairy herd, implements and general sundries, which realised fair prices. Cows made" from 40s to 69s (for store cows), dairy cows' Bos to 142s 6d, bull 60s, horses 7is to 182s <>d, hillside plough 67s 6d, "Iron Age" combined cultivator and dhill 10s, milk cans 3s to Bs, Bf.t galvanised iron 2s 3d per sheet, 7ft iron 2s per sheet, spring cart 40s, cart harness 20s; and general sundries sold well.

_We held our usual fortnightly combined sale-at our Stratford yards on Tuesday, 27th inst., when we had a good yarding'of,cattle and a few sheep, being mostiy farmers' lines, and practically all sold at the folio wing'prices:—Poor weanera 15s to 21s, good weaners 25s to 355, Cd (for good-colored heifers), and one good Irne of colored Jersey heifers from a Brooker road client realised 44s 6d, while another from Flint road was knocked down at 425. One line of Holstein weaners (small) realised 31s Cd, store cows 40s to 725, forward cows 80s to 925, fat cows from 98s to 110s, bulls 40s for small, heavier bulls 68s to 110s, 18-months steers Cos to 70s, cows and calves 40s to 'o2s 6d, 18-mo.nths heifers 44s Gd to 555, full-mouth ewes 6s 7d, 2-tooth wethers 10s (for culls) to lis 9d, 2-tooth ewes Us 3d, lambs 6s to 7s. SOUTHERN MARKETS. ADDINGTON. At Addington good two-tooth ewes made 16s to 17s, extra to 17s 6d, medium halfbreds 14s, four-tooth 15s 6d to 16s 7d, full-mouthed 9s to 13s 9d, North Island ,ewes, four' and six-tooth, 13s to 14s 9d, six and eight-tooth 10s 6d to 14s, forward wethers 15s to 16s, others 12s to 14s 6d, sound-mouth halfbreds 10s 6d to lis '9d, fair 9s to 10s, small 7s Bd, halfbred wether lambs 7s 3d to 9s, culls 7s 4d. Fat lambs totalled 5451, the range of prices being 12s 5d to IDs Cd. Fat sheep—Prime wethers 17s to 19s, extra to'l9s 9d, others 14s to 16s 6d, unfinished from 10s'8d, prime ewes 13s to 17s 7d, others 10s 3d to 12s 9d. . Fat cattle—Beef made 24s to 27s per 1001b, according to quality. Steers fetched £8 10s to £l2 10s, one realising £l4. Heifers made £6 5s to £8 7s 6d, '

Vealers—A moderate entry of fat calves met with the usuoJ demand, and representative prices ranged from 4s 6d to sfls, according to size and condition. Store cattle—A fairly large entry, in» eluding some useful lines. The demand was good. Yearlings made 325, fifteen to, eighteen-months £2 i2s to £4, twoyear steers £4 15s to £5 lis, two-year heifers £4 2s to £4 Ss, two and a-half-year steers £5 17a, three-year steers £0 lis to £8 19s, three-year" heifers £5 2a fid to £5 10s, dry cows £2 to £4 10s. Dairy cows met with good enquiry, and prices ranged from £3 10s to £8 10s,' extra making £ll ss. OPigs—Choppers made 60s to 100s, heavy, baconers 72s to 70s, extra to 945, others 55s to 68s, the values being equal to 6%d per lb. Heavy porkers made 45s to 503, lighter sorts 38s to 435, equivalent to 6y 2 d per lb. There was a medium enfry of store pigs, but the demand was. not quite as keen as at the previous sale. Large sorts realised 39s to 48s, and smaller, 22s to 345, weaners 12s to 16s.

JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johsonville sale as follows:—A good yarding of sheep, and cattle came forward, and sold at late rate.
