> ' MISS MARIE BAINES. ' 1 Miss Marie Baines, the well-known-English comedienne, will play a two nights' season in New Plymouth next ' •week, when she will produce the two-act comedy, "Miss' Lancashire, Limited." Since last it was produced' in Australasia, the piece has been rewritten to make room for Miss Baines' specialties, which ' include mimicry, child impersonation, dialect turns, popular and topical songs,.,/ and other diverting items. Miss Baines' ' must not be confounded- with her sister, who produced the play with such success '' in Australasia three years ago. She i*. a' & younger sister, who has been happily de- „f scribed by a southern critic as "half the size of her sister and twice as versatile." She brings with her a company of twelve ' English artists, all of whom are neto'-to this Dominion. The box plan is open .at Colliers. VON ARX—THE MAN WHO MYSTIFIES. On Monday, March 11, at the Theatre Royal, New Plymouth, local theatregoers will be afforded the opportunity of witnessing Von Arx, the necromancer,' and his specially selected company of all 'I American star vaudeville artists. Arx is supported by an array of high- ' salaried vaudeville artists, eviry one of whom is entirely new to New Zealand, and who have been specially engaged to support this prince of magicians oirhre present tour. Pre-eminent amongst these, of a company of twelve, is Mr. George. Murphy, the talkative comedy juggler, whose acts, we are informed, in excellence far exceeds anything ever presented here before. To see him is to be convulsed with laughter. The other principal artists include Miss Pearle Mallnote, a captivating singing and dancing som.brette, Mr. P. Shaw, a famous actorvocalist, and Reeves and Reeves, a clever musical combination, supported by other members of the company. The box plan will open at Collier's on Thursday morning.
