The Morning Post's Washington correspondent reports that the State Department asserts its sovereignty over the Palmyra Island as part of the Hawaian Group. Owing to rumors adverse to the claim being made, a cruiser visited the island. The American Government, he says, does not intend to relinquish its sovereignty over the island.
