DISTRICT NEWS.

HEREFORD ROAD. ] (Fr«m Our Own Correspondents!. The suppliers of the O'mata Dairy Company were seen with wide smiles on their faces last, week, when they heard the good news that the directors had decided to pay a bonus of iy 2 d per lb for butter-fat next month,"delivered this season, with a possibility of a further bonus at the end of the season. When ono looks back six years and remembers I that the farmers were only getting 7% \ per lb, there is no wonder that land, has increased in value. The weather of i late lias made the grass and crops grow as though it were spring, thus keeping up the milk supply at the factory. There is a meeting of ladies to be held on Thursday at 2.30 p.m. at Mr. Matthews' residence to consider arrangements for the factory picnic. All ladies are invited to attend. . , The value of goats for eradicating [ blackberries is thoroughly proved around this neighborhood, since Mr. Wood's success with- the nannies. All his neighbors have gone in for goats, and now there is enough proof of the goat's capabilities, and the farmer with goats looks on cutting blackberries as pruning thein. Anyone troubled with the creeping pests would do well to take a stroll over some of the farms that have been cleared by the goats; they will lose no time in securing a few of these valuable animals. ' i LINCOLN ROAD. j The Bristol Road Cricket' Club' met a comDination of Kairaata and Tariki players one day last week. Bristol road proved victorious by a fair margin. Kaimata did not have a full team, but proved good sports. The highest scorers for the winners were M. Mcßae 36 not out and E. Stewart 26. I hope to be J able to record another win for our boys next week against Egmont Village. Our genial neighbor and respected settler, Mr. A. H. Clarke, was married in** Wanganui last Saturday, and on Tues-\ day evening, a number of friends andj neighbors assembled at his residence, and j gave Mr. Clarke and his bride a right! royal welcome home. 1
