The Education Department has yet to formally sanction the inauguration of this proposed classes. Mr. Chas. Ahier, one of the principals of the firm of Messrs, Henry Brown and Co., who is shortly leaving on a trip to Jersey, and his niece, Miss Ahier, who is accompanying him, were yesterday afternoon entertained by the Morley street staff at afternoon tea. Occasion was also taken by the staff to present Mr. Ahier with a case of pipes and travelling rug and Miss Ahier with a travelling rug. Mr. Henry Brown, senior partner, in making thia presentation, wished Mr. and Miss Ahier a pleasant voyage, and. trusted that they would return shortly in good health and spirits. Mr. A. E. Ladner, the oldest employee at the works, spoke on behalf 'of the yard hands, Mr. Marshall, foreman, on behalf 1 of the joinery bands, and Mr. Reg Sole on behalf of the office staff. Mr. Airier, in responding for Miss Ahier and himself, thanked the staff for their kindly expression of good will, and said that he looked forward to meeting them all again in November. Auld Lang Syne was then sung, followed by three hearty cheers for Miss and Mr. Ahier.
