Mr. Churchill, writing to the Dundee blanch of the Women's Freedom League, states that he intends to vote against the second reading of the Conciliation BUI. He believes that the country is Cot prepared to give the vote to seven million women at the present time. Mr. Birrell, replying to a deputation of Bristol women, urged them to stick to the Conciliation Bill, which would place a million and a quarter women <m the register. If they tried to *mend the Reform Bill they must lose all.

The by-election for the St. Rollox division of Glasgow, occasioned by Mr. McKinnon Wood's appointment as Secretary for Scotland, was hotly contested, and resulted: Mr. McKinnon Wood 8430, Ab, McQnirton (Unionist; SO6l. It was fought on the issues of Home Rule and the Insurance Bill.
