Inman has declined to play Gray with composition balls. He states that Gray played very differently against him, compared with Stevenson. No doubt if he (Inman) played against Gray he would produce some more big breaks. Sporting Life characterises this statement as an innuendo, and no credit to Inman as a sportsman. TIMARU BOY'S FINE PLAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Monday. On Friday evening a billiard match was played between Fred Farrell, formerly manager for George Gray, and Master Clark McConachy, aged 10, from Timaru. The game was 750 up, Farrell receiving 300. On his first visit to the table the youth produced 146, relying entirely ion the losing hazard, and playing the stroke with surprising accuracy and force. Amongst other contributions were breaks of 80, 66, and 59, his average being slightly over 12 for each cue. Taking into consideration the youth of the player, the performance was a good one, and comparisons were drawn between McConachy's playing and that of George Gray at the same age. It is understood that on the table 'on which McConacliy is accustomed to playing at Timaru he has been able to compile breaks of 700 odd. The game resulted in a win for the boy by 73 points.
