ELECTRICAL STORM.
CYCLONIC CONDITIONS IN SYDNEY. CHURCH AND CONVENT STRUCK. By CaWe—Press Association—C«pyrigkt. Sydney, February 26. Incessant and heavy rain fell throughout the night, and there are no signs of it clearing. The cricket pitch is unplayable. During the afternoon, in a storm, lVz inches of rain fell, accompanied by a cyclonic wind and severe lightning. Many boats capsized in the harbor, but there were no fatalities. Lightning struck St. Matthias' Church, Paddington, and fired the roof. The fire brigade extinguished the fire. The tower of St. Francis' Convent was struck, but the damage was slight. The tram lines were flooded, and traffic was suspended for a time. Several cars were struck by lightning. HEAVY RAINFALL. Received 26, 9 p.m. Sydney, February 26. Over three and a half inches of rain fell in the city since Saturday. The fall I was general.
