FEDERATION OF LABOR UNIONS: ' , Dunediu, Last Night. lhe outcome of the conference of delegates of unions of laborers in the South- - „ Island, at present sitting here, ig. the formation of the basis and constitution-, of the Federation of Laborers' Unions of New Zealand. The constituent union* * are set out as follows: —General laborer ' (including buildiog. laborers, quarry workers, wool and.grain store workers}' gas workers unions, and such other properly constiuted industrial unions as may apply for admission'eind be received bv resolution of the council. • . r - The objects of the association.a re to' "> confine in one body all kindred uiiona m order that their interests maf* ba protected, their status raised,- and tleir * . improved, and to overcome the * evils arising from separate action. The association is to be governed bvai' council composed of a president, a secre- • tray and treasurer elected by a ballot of ' the whole of the members of the assocfo- -v tion; and one delegate from each fed- ' erated union. ■ .-••• ■ The following pledge is to be exacted from each member of the association: I hereby pledge myself to accept and loyally adhere to the rules and consti- ' ' tution of the Federation of Labor Association; to conform to all its and not to work for less than the rate of wages fixed by the association, nor take the place of any person out on strike."
