CHARGES REFUTED. By Cable— Press Association—Copyright. London, February 22. Mr. Ponsonby moved an amendment to the Address-in-Reply, condemning the Government's failure to preserve the integrity of Persia. Sir Edward Grey refuted the charge that Britain's strategic interests were damaged. Some Russian troops had already beeniVithdrawn. and the- Government was assured that the rest would follow. Russia was also entitled to defend her strategical interests. The Anglo-Russian agreement limited the action of btfth Power-. Russia's influence in Northern Persia was unaffected. as it existcjl, prior to the agreement. The amendment was withdrawn.
