WOODVILLE JOCKEY CLUB. FIRST DAY'S RESULTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Woodville, Last Night. The autumn meeting of the Woodville; Jockey Club commenced under rather un-j favorable circumstances so far as the j weather was concerned. There was al very high wind blowing all the afternoon, j which made things unpleasant, but luckily the rain kept off. The attendance was very satisfactory, and speculation was.brisk. The sum of £10,069 was put through the tote, as against £8604 for the corresponding meeting last year. Results: — Maiden Handicap, of 65 sovs; 6 fur-' longs.—Hon. Ormond's Haskyne, 2yrs, 6.11 (H. Watson) 1; Master Kilcheran 2, Lockwood 3. Won with the greatest of ease by five lengths, same distance between second and third. Time, lmin ISsec. Scratched: Miss Jean, JockeyJack, Katipo, Blue Blouse and Merrimac.
Hack Hurdles, of 85 sovs; 1% miles A. M. Wright's Stevens, 9.13 (C. Price)) 1, Canadian 2, Waiputere 3. All started. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 3min 32sec. Nedra was favorite, but jumped! badly. Whariti Hack Handicap, of 75 sovs;' 7 furlongs.—D. King's Clenroes, syrs, 8.13, (Olliver) 1; Moutoa Girl 2, Loch Maben 3. Scratched: Te Wharoa and Otaria. There was a great struggle between Clemoes and Moutoa Girl from the distance, the former winning by a head. Time,,,lmhi 31 2-ssec. Woodville Cup, of 200 sovs; 1% miles. ~% Ne'e's Sir Knox, 3yrs, 8.3 (B. Deeley); I';'Co'rk 2, Ariom 3. Vi was scratched. This, was a magnificent race, mostly all the horses being bunched. At the entrance to the straight Golden Loop and Ariom took command and raeed neck and neck to within SO yards of the post, when Sir Knox and Cork came through, the former gaining the verdict by half a length, Ariom a length away third. Time, 2min 9 4-ssec. County Hack, of 75 sovs; 6 furlongs.— F. Dorset's Sir Solo (B. Deeley) 1, Glen-' fern 2, Thrave 3. A splendid finish. Won by a short head, with a length between second and third. Time, lmin 17 3-ssec. Scratched: Ineuru, Leapuki, Happy New Year and Miss Roberts. President's Handicap, of 100 sovs; 7 furlongs.—F. S. Easton's Lady Moutoa, syrs, 8.8 (Deeley) 1, Master Sylvia 2, Seatondale 3. Rill was scratched. Master Sylvia should have won the race, but the rider was so intent on watching Seatondale on his right and got out from the rails. A few yards from the post Lady Moutoa got through on the rails and won by half a length. Time, lmin 30sec.
Victoria Hack, of 75 sovs; 1 mile.—
C. Kingston's Merrie Lad, syrs, 8.13 (C. Jenkins) 1, Merrie Emerald 2, Matlow 3. Scratched: Stevens, Loch Maben, and Strategist. All the horses were together coming down the straight. A few yards from home Merrie Lad got in front and won by half a length. Time, lmin 46 2-seec.
Telephone Handicap.—A. R. Durrant's Sinapis, 3yrs, 7.S (McMillen) 1, Khamsin] 2, Ascalon 3. Scratched: Labor Day, Master Sylvia, Emma, Ineuru and Parakau. Longstep was very troublesome at the post and caused a lot of delay before a start was effected. Altcar and Rangiatua led the field into the straight, where Sinapis and Khamsin came through, the former winning by half a length, the third horse two lengths away, and the rest of the field another length. DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. FIRST DAY'S' RESULTS. _, Dunedin, Last Night. The Dunedin Jockey Club was not favored with particularly fine weather for the opening of the autumn meeting to-day, showers falling at intervals and a strong wind prevailing. The attendance was good, but hardly up to that of the opening day of last year. The sum of £15,115 was put through the tote, as against £14,814 10s for the corresponding day of last year.
