HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. ! Yesterday's meeting of the Hospital I and Charitable Aid Board was attended I by the chairman (Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer), ) and Messrs. W. Cutfield, E. Maxwell, D. I McAllum, J. R. Hill, J. Brown, G. Browne, A. H. Halcombe, and D. H. McDonald. INSPECTOR'S REPORT. In his monthly report, the Inspector (Mr. A. H. Kendall) stated that since the last meeting he had visited Opui nake, Warea, Puniho, Okato, Koru, Waitara, and Inglewood. Thr.ee cases of enteric and three cases of tuberculosis had been notified, and the usual precautions taken. Of these, two cases of tuberculosis and one of enteric fever had occurred at New Plymouth, one of each at Inglewood, and one case of. enteric fever at Opunake, and another at Warea. The inspector added that he had • forwarded reports to the District Health Officer upon the butchers' shops in New Plymouth, and also a commentary upon the New Plymouth water supply, in accordance with instructions received. Work in connection with the new hospital site earthwork contract was progressing favorably, and should be completed in about a month. The rubbish depot at Waitara required a little more regular attention in the way of keeping the rubbish in a more compact tip, and covering with earth from time to time. He was asking the authorities to remedy matters. The report was adopted. ' The resignation of Nurse Tolme was accepted, and Miss Baxter was placed on the probationer's list, OM> PEOPLE'S HOME. ' The report of Mrs. Bayly, matron of i the Old People's Home, stated that everything had been very satisfactory ' at the institution during the past month, The discipline was good. There had been one admission and one departure during the month, the number remaining in the Home being 22 males and 11 females.
