MASTERTON A. AND P. SHOW
PEOPLE'S DAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. The weather was fine for the People's Day of the Masterton Show, and the attendance constituted a record, between 12,000 and 15,000 being present. Several accident* occurred in the jumping competitions, Miss Nellie Angus, of Hastings, sustaining concussion of the brain, and Mr. Duncan Bennttt fracture of the collar bone and several ribs. His Exeelleney the Governor was on the ground, and' 1 expressed himself delighted with the show of fat stock. The prize for the best hack i» the show was won by J. R. McDonald's Oateo. The champion jumping competition was won by E. Short's Count, and the hunters' by P. Morrison's Grey Dawn. The Cheltenham butter "factory was awarded first in butter for export and for local consumption, whilst Greytown was first in cheese.
