ENTERTAINMENTS
EMPIRE THEATRE. A , "THE DOUBLE EVENT." ', Many star pictures have been shown in New Plymouth in the past", some good, others mediocre, but all have a fair share of the public patronage. The management of the Empire Theatre is so well satisfied with tne"*ublic response that the most expensive, "star" film touring New Zealand has not proved too big for the Empire. To-night Nat Gould's famous sporting novel) "The Double Event," will be included 6n the change programme. Another unique departure is the engagement of wellknown actor Mr. Alf. Boothman, who has made a special "trip to New Plymouth under engagement to the Empire Theatre management, and will add a pleasing reality to the picture by relating every incident of the story as the picture is thrown on the screen." No attraction has proved too big for thisf management to handle, and many of the "star" subjects shown under their direction will remain in the memory of the public as long as pictures form a popular mode of entertainment. It is safe to say that "The Double Event," assisted by' Mr. Boothman's elocution, will mark an epoch ! in the history of moving pictures in New Plymouth. This picture has just completed a season in Wanganui, where the huge Opera House could not 'accommodate the great crowds seeking admission.
