MISRULE IN MACEDONIA.
TURKISH CRUELTY AND INCAPACITY.
London, February 14. Uncensored messages received by the United Press Association from its Constantinople correspondent reveal the dreadful conditions now prevailing in Macedonia. °
The country is declared to be in a state of anarchy, for which the cruelty ifnd lack of administrative ability on the part of the Governor-General of Salonica are held responsible, and the inhabitants are secretly circulating a petition imploring the Powers to intervene.
A commission of enquiry that was sent by the Turkish Government to the disaffected districts has reported that the local officials are utterly unworthy of confidence. It is stated that they habitually disarm all Christians and supply the Mussulmans with arms and ammunition while they fill the administrative posts with persons whose sole qualification is their brutality.
The despair of the population around lstib is declared to be pitiable. At laganza armed bands of brigands are collection tribute with the connivance of the officials.
