FIGHTING IN TRIPOLI

The newspapers state that General Caneva has informed the Government he is unable to provide a decisive victory in Tripoli which would enable Italy to impose unconditional peace. All he could offer was the slow conquest of Tripoli, and Cvrenaica.
BRITISH CRUISERS FIRED UPON. Received 16, 11.3&-p.m. Aden, February 16. The Turkish fort at Perim shelled the British cruiser Dido, mistaking her for an Italian vessel. H.M.S. Dido had not heard of the blockade, and approached the fort.
