TOTALISATOR COMMISSION.
EVIDENCE IN VICTORIA.
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, Melbourne, February 16. GWing evidence before the Tqjalisator Commission, the secretary of the_ Victorian Amateur Turf Club favored the introduction of the totalisator. Judging by the experience of New Zealand, he thought it would greatly increase the prize money. Victorian racing was fairly clean, but' it would be cleaner with the totalisator.
The Rev. Marton, of Canterbury, thought that racing should be treated like other sports, and betting prohibited, but ho preferred the evils of the bookmaker to the seductive methods of the totalisator.
