NEW PRESIDENT RESIGNS.

Dr. Sun-Yat-Sen and the members of the Cabinet have resigned. They strongly recommend the election of Yuan-Shih-Kai to the presidency of the Republic. Their resignations were reluctantly accepted. The'election of a new president will occur to-day.

The local Chinese Association received last night a copy of a cable sent to the Young China Party in Melbourne by the Provisional Government in Nanking, stating that the Manchu dynasty hadabdicated, and the party has agreed to observe February 15 as a general holiday in honor of the occasion. It has been decided by the Chinese throughout New Zenlaml to observe Monday next as a holiday, and on that day inoft of their places of business will be closed.
