AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.
DEFEAT OF LABOR GOVERNMENT,
LABOR PREMIER'S- VIEWS,
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, February 14.
Mr. McGowen, Premier of New South Wales, regards the Labor defeat ia South Australia as a purely local disturbance and that it has no portent towards the Labor movement as a whole, certainly not as regards its popularity in New South Wales.
DIRECT RESULT OF BRISBANE STRIKE.
Received 14, 11 p.m. Sydney, Last Night,
'Mr. Griffiths states that the defeat of the Labor Government in South Australia was the direct result of the Brisbane strike. South Australia was paralysed by the recent strikes, whilst farmers were stampeded by the possible extension of the Brisbane trouble throughout Australia. The papers told the people that the Labor Governments brought about the strikes. Hence the debacle. He added that every prominent Labor politician regarded thfe strike as a nice bleftd pf imbecility and barbarism.
