TO-DAY'S MEETING.

Everything, including the weather, aifeurs well for the first day 0 f the Taranaki Jockey Club's autumn meeting to-day. Very satisfactory acceptances have been received for all events, and judging by the standard of many of the horses competing the public should witness some good racing. For the Cup especially, a particularly good field is offering, and guaged by the interest that is being displayed in the event the best of contests may be looked for. The course is in good order, although a little ram would do no harm. Special train arrangements have been made for the convenience of country patrons. ¥ rrow , wa ® nothing very startling done the tracks yesterday morning, but a number of horses were schooled.
