AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.
DEFEAT OF SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Adelaide, February 12.
The elections are being bitterly contested. Officials are greatly handicapped by the badly compiled rolls. Hundreds of voters are disfranchised, some being electors of long standing. In one electorate five voters found their names already marked through.
The figures are still far from complete, but progress returns point to a Liberal majority of six in the Assembly. The Socialists will probably gain two seats in the Council.
LABOR GOVERNMENT DOOMED.
Received 13, 12.10 a.m.
Adelaide, February 12.
The election returns are slow. The latest figures give the Liberals 24, and Labor il6. These may alter, but the Labor Government's defeat is certain.
