GISBORNE RACES. Gisborne, Last Night. The Poverty Bay summer meeting concluded to-day in fine weather. There was a fair attendance, and the sum of £9975 was put through the tote, as against £8457 for the corresponding day m. last year, making a total of £20,132 against £15,574 for last year. During the afternoon three incipient fires were discovered under the stairs of the grandstand, which is an old dry building. • These were got out with the aid" of a few buckets of water. At the October meeting two similar outbreaks occurred one afternoon. Results:— Stewards' Handicap, of 80 govs; 7 furlongs.—A. B.
