A DOG'S INSTINCT.
LEADS TO RECOVERY OP A (BODY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisiborne, Friday. The body of Ernest Vernon Sweet, who was drowned on. Waikanae 'beach last evening, was discovered at 1 o'clock this morning under strange circumstances. Shean, a resident living 'half a mile from the 'beach, was awakened by the loudi and' persistent barking 'of his dog. He went out and spoke to the dog, which led Jrim in the direction of the beach. There Shean, by the bright moonlight, saw a dark object being tossed about in the breakers, which he pulled ashore, and discovered it ±o be the body of Sweet. Sweet was well known throughout New Zealand as a traveller for typewriters. He was a brilliant billiard player.
