CARRINGTON ROAD BEATS INGLEWOOD. Fate dealt unkindly with Perham on the Recreation Ground yesterday. He was* playing on Carrington Road's behalf against Inglewood. He had been batting the whole afternoon, and was about to crown his efforts with a well-deserved century—he had 99 runs to his creditwhen a ball from Billing compelled his retirement. Another feature of the game was that it was begun months ago—on November 16, as a matter of fact—and after a lengthy interval only brought to a conclusion yesterday afternoon. On the.opening day Inglewood were all disposed of for 136 runs, and when stumps were drawn Carrington 'Road had four wickets down for about S3 runs. Per- ! ham was then 17, riot out, and Simpson 5, not out. Both batsmen reopened proceedings yesterday, and their renewed partnership was productive of another 40 runs', and then Simpson succumbed to Billing, and the wickets fell to the tune of very few runs until Perham was joined by Billings. The twain then made a stand, to which Billings contributed 29 runs. Throughout the afternoon it wasi noticeable that Inglewood fielders appeared to have a very tired feeling, and let many boundaries slip threw their fingers. Carrington Road won by a wicket and l 55 runs. Scores:— INGLEWOOD.—First Innings .136. CARRINGTON ROAD.
