KING AND QUEEN RETURN.
• A HEARTY WELCOME. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, February 6. The morning was foggy, and the ice was thawing, but large crowds welcomed the King and Queen. Queen Alexandra and the captains of the escort were accorded ;m ovation. They preceded their Majesties. The King wore a field-marshal's uniform, and the Queen heavy sables. They rode in an open carriage, accompanied by the Prince of Wales and Princess Mary. Troops lined the streets. The Lord Mayor and the sheriffs met their Majesties at Temple Bar.
At the thanksgiving service, the congregation numbered five thousand, including twenty bishops, military and naval officers, Parliamentarians, the high commissioners and agents-general, ambassadors, and 250 of the Medina's crew. The majority of the ladies were in black.
The service was impressive. The Primate conducted the service. The crowds afterwards demonstrated at the Palace, and their Majesties acknowledged their welcome from the balcony. Similar services were, held in the provinces.
