LONDON PRODUCE REPORT: ; Messrs E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated December 29,1911: — Owing to the holidays, business this week has been confined to a few days only. The weather has continued very changeable, and exceeditibly mild for the time of year. Danish: The quotation has been reduced three kroner, making a reduction of six kroner during the past fortnight. Trade in the North of Englad is quiet, and now that strikes have commenced in the cotton districts, buyers are acting very cautiously. I Siberian continues In small supply, and is not now a feature in the market. Australian: The Otway came to hand with about 44,000 boxes, and buyers generally were of opinion that they would get on at lower rates this week, and many of them had the idea of laying in a little stock. Quite the contrary, however, has happened, as the butter has •been well cleared at an advance of Is to 2s, and the market closes strongly. With the reduction in Danish it has taken buyers some little time to understand the position, and they all seem to be caught without any stock, so that the future of the market, unless driven too high, looks extremely healthy. '■ New Zealand: The lonic's butters sold very well, and there is no doubt we shall have clear boards before the arrival of i the Turakina, which is due to-morrow. Argentine: This week's arrivals have met with a ready sale. Cheese. —There has been .an excellent trade passing. The quality of the lonic's shipment, with few exception, was quite satisfactory; and everything sold immediately on arrival, The market seems to be gaining strength.
