A NATIVE'S SUICIDE, r, By Telegraph—Press Association. Hawera, Wednesday 31. Pani Ngeru, a native, aged 21 years, committed suicide last night by shooting himself with a double-barrel gun. It is said he was troubled over'a love affair. DEATH FROM'SEPTIC POISONING. Christchurch, Last Night. An inquest was resumed into the circumstances connected with the death of Cloustina Caroline Elstob, a married woman, who died suddenly last Saturday morning. The post mortem examination showed that death was due to heart failure, but there were signs of an attempt to procure abortion. Further evidence was to the effect that Mrs. Elstob had visited Dr. C. J. Russell, who gave her some stuff to take. The coroner recorded an open verdict that death was due to scepticemia, caused by an illegal operation. The police intimated that and searching inquiries would be made into the whole matter. ■ ~
FATALLY RUN, OVER. ■ Nelson, Last Night. Patrick J. Ross was run over by a trap at Motueka and died from pneumonia caused by the accident. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. YOUNG MAN'S SUDDEN DEATH. - Christchurch, Last Night. . A young man: named A. J. Moore dropped dead in a* house in Addington this morning. Dr. Gibson was summoned, but on arrival could only certify that life was extinct. At the inquest a verdict was recorded that death was due to distention of the stomach affecting the heart.
