THE GLEMORN MURDER.
LAWLESS SENTENCED TO DEATH. By Cable—Press Association-Copyright. Received 31, 9.20 p.m. Sydney, January 31. Lawless has been sentenced to death for the murder of Una Cover. The evidence showed that Lawless was or a brooding disposition, and that the Covers were Ms only friends. 'There was no reason for the crime. Pleas that he was suffering from mental delusions were :iot upheld. This tragedy occurred on October 23 at Glenmorn, near Tamworth, New South Wales. Lawrence Lawless, a farm labover aged,, 21, shot Mrs. Cover and her daughter Una, killing the latter almost immediately. The house afterwards was burnt down and the body of the daughter incinerated. Mrs. Cover was, in a critical condition for some time but recovered. Lawless afterwards, s"hot himself in the chest, but the wound did not prove fatal. It was surmised that the tragedy was the outcome of a supposition on the part of Lawless that the Uners were responsible for a young lady throwing him over." He and the deceased had been practising, with the rifle with which he committed the"crime •
